Digital Photo Camera

What is Digital Photo Camera?

Many well-known manufactures of digital devices presented their versions of digital cameras. Such brands as Panasonic, Kodak, Nikon and Pentax are doing their best to woo their customers. Tense business struggle has lead to the decline in prices. These brands are highly involved in producing cameras for professional as well as amateur photographers. Today digital cameras are of moderate prices, while up until recently they were rarity and only wealthy customers could afford to buy them.

At the same time, just a few years ago such digital cameras as Canon (Powershot) cost quite a lot. Nowadays everybody can afford easy-to-use and handy point-and-shoot cameras.

Digital Single Lense Reflex (DSLR) Camera are very popular. Though their price is a bit higher, they will satisfy even the most demanding customer. DSLR cameras are very popular among professional photographers who use them for commercial purposes. At the same time, however, most professionals agree that if you handle a camera properly, you must get great images in the end.

If it’s your first ever camera you’d like to buy, pay attention to simple moderately priced models. Soon you will see which options you need, which useful options your camera lacks, which options turned out to be excessive.

Here are the features crucial for the images quality. These features should determine your choice of a camera:

Resolution:
Resolution of the light-sensitive sensors makes images look real and true-to-life.  The sensors are made of millions of pixels (Mpx). Today even the low-end cameras have resolution of 6-8 Mpx. The resolution of professional cameras is much higher.

Type of camera
All the digital cameras can be relatively divided into ultra compact (mini-cameras that can easily fit into your pocket), compact (the most popular cameras among amateur photographers), ultra zoom cameras (with vast variability of focus settings) and DSLR cameras (most expensive and high-quality fast cameras with a wide range of options). DSLRs can have up to 12+Mpx resolution.

Zoom
Zoom makes a camera able to magnify an image. You can have two types of zoom: optical and digital. The latter is always more preferable because the zoom option is supposed to enlarge the output with the programming tools. Zoom options vary from 2-4 till 15+ according to the type and the price of the camera.

ISO sensitivity
ISO sensitivity shows how sensitive the image sensor is to light. The prescribed standard is equivalent to that applied to photo film (ISO 100 (ISO 100, ISO 400, ect.).  ISO of expensive semi-professional and professional cameras can have ISO up to 1600.
